In November 2019, the University of Lucerne received a petition in which numerous students participated with suggestions for improving equal opportunities. University management examined the issues and concerns raised and decided on eight measures. Three of these directly affect students:
- In the first semester of study, students are to receive information brochures on the compatibility of family and studies as well as on protection against sexual harassment.
- The faculties received suggestions for improvements in teaching. On the one hand, this concerns the linguistic quality of written work and on the other hand, the expansion of teaching evaluations.
- The 'Campus Luzern' day care center is to be advised to revise its strategy and present it to university management.
The other five measures concern equal opportunities in appointments, in the allocation of teaching positions, in the organisation of conferences and in employment, as well as transparency in the salary system.
