Bettina Beer recently returned from fieldwork on the island of Bohol, in the Philippines, where she did ethnographic research for her SNF-funded project entitled: Separation, Divorce, or Annulment of Marriages and the Reconfiguration of Kin Networks in the Philippines. This is part of a larger project on estrangement and separations in intimate relations, on which she works with Laura Preissler (topic: estrangement between parents and adult children in Switzerland) and Nora Lipp (topic: first parents and adopted children in Russia). Ideas and insights generated by Beer’s research will inform courses she teaches in the upcoming spring semester.
