Annemarie Schumacher Dimech studierte Psychologie mit Schwerpunkt klinische Psychologie an der University of Malta. Später studierte sie Gesundheitspsychologie an der University of Surrey (England) und arbeitete danach als Leiterin einer Stiftung für Kindern mit geistigen und / oder körperlichen Behinderungen und ihre Familien. Sie doktorierte in Gesundheitspsychologie an der Universität Bern. Sie zog 2005 in die Schweiz und promovierte an der Universität Bern. Sie arbeitete über zehn Jahre als Forscherin und Lehrerin im Bereich Gesundheitspsychologie an der Universität Bern. Ihre Tätigkeit an der Universität Luzern ist die Koordination und Führung des CAS Palliative Care, Entwicklung weitere Weiterbildungsangebote und die Co-Leitung des Moduls Gendermedizin im Rahmen des Bachelors für Gesundheitswissenschaften.
