Alejandra Rodríguez-Morales is a research assistant and PhD candidate at the Chair of International Economics at the University of Lucerne, working under the supervision of Prof. Manuel Oechslin since October 2022. Her research lies at the intersection of development economics and economic history, with a strong empirical orientation. She studies how economies highly dependent on natural resources adjust to major shocks and institutional reforms, with a particular focus on structural transformation, local welfare, and the governance of shared resources.
She holds a B.Sc. in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (including an exchange at the University of Graz) and an M.Sc. in Economic Development and Growth jointly from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Lund University. She also completed the Swiss Program for Beginning Doctoral Students in Economics at the Study Center Gerzensee (2023/2024 cohort).
She has also been a Mid-level Organisation University of Lucerne (MOL) Board Member since November 2024.
