The SNSF has announced that it will not continue the "Doc.CH" instrument in 2025 without replacement. This decision by the SNSF has far-reaching consequences for research in the humanities and social sciences. The Swiss Academy of Humanities (SAGW), for example, and professional associations such as the Swiss History Society (SGG) are correspondingly displeased.

The MOL has joined the numerous other organisations and has written a letter of protest to the SNSF and the cantons: We demand the new strategy paper to be revised with the involvement of students, the academic mid-level and the universities. The discontinuation of the Doc.CH instrument means that independent full-time doctorates in various disciplines will hardly be possible in Switzerland in the future.
