PD Dr Christian P.R. Schmid, born in 1982, was appointed Titular Professor of Insurance Economics on 23 March.

Christian Schmid is a health economist and has served as Director of the CSS Institute for Empirical Health Economics in Lucerne since October 2020. Prior to this, he worked there as a research assistant from 2015. He spent most of his academic career at the University of Bern, where he obtained his PhD in Applied Health Economics in 2014 and has been a private lecturer in economics since completing his habilitation in 2019. In addition, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Lucerne since 2019. His current research focuses on cost-sharing, the pharmaceutical market and premium reductions. He also regularly contributes his academic expertise to economic policy and public debate.
