Emerging Trends in Leadership and Spirituality

A new anthology brings theology and the social sciences into dialogue to explore how leadership and spirituality can be understood and shaped today. It was co-edited by Professor Christian Preidel and Dr Patrick Renz from the Faculty of Theology.

Leadership research and theological reflection on leadership have, until now, largely proceeded in isolation. The volume Emerging Trends in Leadership and Spirituality brings these two perspectives together. Contributions from theology, the social sciences and organisational studies engage with current debates on leadership and spirituality, drawing on theoretical, epistemological and empirical perspectives.

The volume connects general leadership research with questions of leadership in religious contexts and explores new forms of practice that can contribute to human, economic and ecological flourishing. In his contribution, Christian Preidel, Professor of Pastoral Theology, examines space as a medium for a synodal church. Together with Denis Imhof, Patrick Renz geht gemeinsam mit Denis Imhof der Frage nach, wie Theologie und Leadership im akademischen Diskurs zueinanderstehen. explores the relationship between theology and leadership in academic discourse.

The volume is aimed at researchers and students in leadership, theology and organisational studies, as well as leaders in business, the public sector and church contexts.
