Lauren Fielder joined Texas Law in June 2014 as the director of Graduate and International Programs and senior lecturer. A native Texan and ’07 graduate of the LL.M. (Master of Laws) Program in Latin American and International Law from the Law School, Fielder came back to her alma mater to build and oversee a new department that encompasses the LL.M. Program and international partnerships, including the Study Abroad Program, as well as teach international and comparative law courses.

From 2008 to June 2014, Professor Fielder lived in Lucerne, Switzerland, where she was an assistant professor of law and assistant director of the Transnational Legal Studies Program at the University of Lucerne School of Law. There she taught international courses including African law, transnational litigation, U.S. constitutional law, and international women and children’s rights. She is also a visiting associate professor at the Brooklyn Law School in New York City.

Fielder earned her J.D. from The University of Tulsa College of Law in 2001, where she served as an articles editor on the Tulsa Law Journal and was honored with the Order of the Curule Chair. After graduating from law school, she went into private practice in Oklahoma, advocating for abused and neglected children, as well as for human rights issues in Africa. Attracted to the world of academia and an opportunity to return to Texas to be closer to her family, Fielder taught international and constitutional law courses from 2005–2009 at Baylor Law School and Baylor University’s Political Science and International Relations Department. Professor Fielder is a member of several professional associations and organizations, including the American Bar Association, International Law Section; Texas Bar Association, International and Family Law Sections; and the Oklahoma Bar Association.
