Mental health

Mental health is fundamental to productivity and wellbeing, both in higher education and in the workplace. Conditions such as depression and anxiety are already widespread globally, and the WHO anticipates a significant increase in the years ahead, urging people to take care of their mental health and seek help early.

The University of Lucerne is committed to the mental health of its members and works to create a healthy working and learning environment in which everyone's wellbeing is supported.

Together with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and the PH Lucerne  (PHLU), the University of Lucerne runs the Psychological Counselling Service Campus Lucerne (PBLU).

Psychological counselling for students and staff

The PBLU offers confidential, free-of-charge counselling for a range of mental health difficulties — including stress and burnout, anxiety, personal crises, and mental blocks, as well as personal challenges that are affecting your studies or working life. Up to five sessions are available.

For full details, visit the PBLU counselling website.

Advice for lecturers and university staff

The PBLU also offers guidance for lecturers and staff in their professional roles - for example, on supporting students with mental health difficulties or navigating workplace disputes.
