The benefits of the CAS in Human Potential and Leadership

The new CAS in Human Potential and Leadership (Certificate of Advanced Studies) complements the University of Lucerne's MAS in Effective Leadership (Master of Advanced Studies), which has been running successfully for several years. The programme is specifically tailored to participants in the compulsory Troop Corps Leadership Course, which runs for several weeks and is aimed at prospective leadership assistants (officers and senior non-commissioned officers) serving on Swiss Armed Forces troop corps staffs. The new certificate programme offers prospective troop corps leadership assistants an ideal opportunity to combine military leadership training with academic continuing education in the field of leadership. It is the second certificate programme that can be incorporated into continuing education for reserve officers as part of an assignment associated with a change in rank.

Who is the CAS HP aimed at?

Building on the existing partnership with the Armed Forces College (AFC), the new certificate programme is designed for prospective leadership assistants (officers and senior non-commissioned officers) serving on Swiss Armed Forces troop corps staffs. The CAS in Human Potential and Leadership enables them to obtain an academic qualification that combines military leadership training with academic continuing education in the field of leadership.

Your benefits

• The focus is on applying military leadership processes in a civilian context, assessed through a relevant civilian case study.
• The additional time commitment of eight half-days, including the assessment, is fully integrated into the Troop Corps Leadership Course.
• The programme fee of CHF 2,200 can be reimbursed through the education credit scheme, provided the Swiss Armed Forces' eligibility criteria are met.
• Upon completing Parts 1 and 2 of the Troop Corps Leadership Course and passing the assessment, you will be awarded the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Human Potential and Leadership from the University of Lucerne.

The CAS in Human Potential and Leadership (13 ECTS credits) will be fully recognised towards the MAS in Effective Leadership at the University of Lucerne (60 ECTS credits) should you decide to complete the master's programme at a later date.

The CAS HP is only open to those who complete Parts 1 and 2 of the Troop Corps Leadership Course from January 2027 onwards. Those who complete the Troop Corps Leadership Course before January 2027 should contact the programme management.
