A Kind of Justice: A Reading and Conversation with Petina Gappah
Organised by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Legal Studies - lucernaiurus and the Swiss Law and Humanities Hub
| Date: | 1 December 2026 |
|---|---|
| Time: | 18.15 h to 19.30 h |
| Location: | University of Lucerne, Room 3.A05 |
Critically acclaimed author and lawyer Petina Gappah joins us to read and reflect on themes of law and justice in her work. In conversation, we will explore what draws her to courtrooms, prisons and the everyday injustices of ordinary life, and think about the possibilities that literature and storytelling might afford for expanding – and complicating – our understanding of things legal. We will also consider the role of humour in writing about law and justice, and discuss some of the most significant authors, texts and traditions that have inspired her.
Further details to follow shortly.
The event is free and open to all but registration is required by 25 November via email to lucernaiuris@unilu.ch.
