Maternity / Paternity

In cases of maternity the female employee is entitled to a paid absence of 16 weeks. At the earliest, this leave may begin two weeks before the expected birth date. If the pregnant employee’s work is curtailed earlier due to pregnancy complications then the last two weeks of absence before the birth are counted as part of her maternity leave.

Please provide Human Resources with the registration form for maternity/paternity leave as early as possible. Please request the registration form from Human Resources on personaldienstremove-this.@remove-this.unilu.ch.

The entitlement to maternity pay ends on the day that employment recommences, irrespective of the level of employment.

The paternity leave for the birth of the employee’s own child is 10 days.
