Human Rights and Public Health

The course focuses on the implementation of human rights and human dignity in national health regulations. To this end, the most important legal sources of human rights guarantees in the field of public health, in particular international treaties and soft law, are presented. In order to illustrate the functioning and application of human rights in health law, specific topics like reproductive medicine, organ transplantation, assisted suicide and clinical trials on human beings are discussed. The course will be conducted by alternating short theoretical inputs with case studies.
