Christian Schmid is a health economist and has been Head of the CSS Institute for Empirical Health Economics in Lucerne since October 2020. Prior to this, he had been working there as a research assistant since 2015. He spent most of his academic career at the University of Bern, where he obtained his PhD in applied health economics in 2014 and has been working as a private lecturer in economics since completing his habilitation in 2019. In addition, he has been a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Lucerne since 2019. Christian Schmid’s current research focuses on cost-sharing, the pharmaceutical market and premium reductions. Furthermore, he regularly contributes his academic expertise to economic policy and public debate.
