CV

Monika Plozza studied law at the Universities of Lucerne, Edinburgh, and Oxford. She is a doctoral candidate specialising human rights law and public international law. Her thesis is entitled ‘From Rights to Obligations – Operationalising the Human Right to Science’. Supported by the Mobility Grant for Doctoral Students, she undertook research stays at the Universities of Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Oxford.

Since 2019, she has been employed as a research assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Martina Caroni, LL.M. (Yale), and teaches courses in public international and constitutional law. She also works as an Advisor on the Human Right to Science for the Geneva Science Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), an independent foundation founded by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Government and the Canton of Geneva. Prior to commencing her doctoral studies, Monika worked at the Legal Department of the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).

Monika Plozza is a board member of the Swiss Network of Young Migration Scholars and has actively contributed to the academic self-governance of the University of Lucerne. She has served as a board member of the Association for Scientific Staff Members (MOL) (2020-2022), as a member of the Working Group for Diversity, and via a stint in the Senate (2021).

She was selected as one of four Schindler Junior Scholars for 2021-2022, a programme for the promotion of excellent doctoral researchers at the Institute for International and Comparative Constitutional Law of the University of Zurich.
