CV
Rebecca Papendieck is a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Nadja El Kassar at the University of Lucerne since July 2024. In her doctoral thesis (“The Epistemic Situation of Chronically Ill Persons – A Philosophical Analysis”), she examines the epistemic challenges faced by patients and the resources required to overcome them. In the process, she also regularly gains practical experience, for example through an internship in the palliative care unit at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital. She is particularly interested in how epistemic injustice, the experience of symptoms such as pain, and medical research practices interact in contexts of uncertainty.
She studied philosophy at the University of Vienna and Goethe University Frankfurt. In 2023, she completed her master’s degree with a thesis on epistemic injustice and endometriosis. During her studies, she received merit scholarships from the University of Vienna and a German public-private scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium).
In addition to her academic activities, Rebecca Papendieck has been working as a freelance editor for several years.
