Administrative Staff
Everything you need to know about the library specifically for administrative employees of the University of Lucerne
Create an Institutional Account
In your daily work, different types of library accounts may be used. On the one hand, your colleagues or supervisors might borrow materials using their respective personal library accounts. On the other hand, it is possible to open a library account as a non-legal entity – for example, as a chair, institute, or moot court. This can be useful when academic staff working together on a project wish to use literature jointly.
You can register for an institutional account online via SLSP Registration for Institutions. You will receive a confirmation email with instructions to contact the library from which you would like to order your first item. That library will verify and activate your account. This process can take several working days. Once the account has been activated, you will be informed.
More information about the registration
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at: info.upg@zhbluzern.ch
By the way: If you do not yet have a personal library account, you can of course register for one as well. You can find the registration here. We already wish you many enjoyable hours of reading!

Swisscovery Research Portal
For searching online and print materials, we recommend swisscovery RZS Uni/PH (direct link: rzs-uniph.swisscovery.ch), our research portal that covers the library holdings of the Region of Central Switzerland and is specifically tailored to the needs of the University of Lucerne. If you do not find what you are looking for there, we suggest searching in swisscovery Switzerland.
You have access to all online materials (e-books, e-journals, etc.) when researching on the campus network, or from off-campus if you log in via VPN.
Searching for a specific book, article, or journal can sometimes be tricky. If you have any questions, our research experts from the various subject areas will be happy to assist you.
Borrowing and Using Media
Would you like to obtain the full text of a specific journal article or borrow a particular book? We have compiled everything you need to know about this – Order and Borrow Media. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us: info.upg@zhbluzern.ch
Two special book scanners are available on site in the library for scanning books. The scanned pages can be saved to a USB stick or via smartphone.
Individual articles or book chapters can also be sent to you through a digitization order.
Media Request
If you need a particular title that we do not have in our stocks, you may submit a purchase request, see media request.
Course Reserves
As part of courses at the University of Lucerne, it is possible to set up so-called course reserves (“Semesterapparate”) – a collection of all relevant literature for a course. You can find all important information about this in the course reserves information sheet.

Library Introductions
We offer a library introduction approximately twice a year for administrative and technical staff of the University of Lucerne. The aim of this event is to familiarize staff with the services of the ZHB and to provide helpful information for everyday work as well as for private visits to the library. The introduction consists of a presentation and a guided library tour. The presentation provides basic information about the institution, as well as research, e-media, and other areas relevant to administrative and technical staff (such as course reserves or subject librarian services). Afterwards, the guided tour introduces the ZHB facilities at the Uni/PH location, as well as the equipment and procedures important for library use.
Dates: At the beginning of each semester in spring and autumn – announcements are made in the university newsletter.
The number of participants is limited to 10 people. If more than 10 registrations are received, additional tours will be offered. If you have questions about the event, please contact Suleika Baumgartner (suleika.baumgartner@zhbluzern.ch).
Another regularly offered event open to all interested: Our lunchtime library tours take place on the last Wednesday of each month. Feel free to drop by spontaneously!
Our Agenda also includes many other tours, courses, exhibitions, and cultural events at all our library locations. You may find something interesting there as well.
Desire for Variety?
You have access to English fiction e-books via Overdrive / E-Books-Switzerland. Worldwide E-Magazines and E-Newspapers you get via PressReader. German speaking movies you can find on our streaming platform filmfriend.
