Profile

REGIE stands for "Religion and social integration in Europe". This University Centre of Competence in Research has been established in November 2009 for a period of five years.

REGIE asks for the role and significance religion has for social and political integration in present European societies and inquires whether religion, respectively religions have a positive or negative impact on the cohesion and stability of democratic societies and their constitutional state.

REGIE does research on aspects of religion and integration on the basis of five sub-projects in the following academic disciplines: political science, religious studies, church history and systematic theology.

REGIE organises public lecture series, called "Religion and Integration Lectures". For June 14 - 16, 2012 an international congress is scheduled.

REGIE wants to analyse the significance and explosiveness of questions concerning migration and integration, forms of inclusion and exclusion of religious communities and the role of public religion. Research is done interdisciplinary and results will be regularly presented to the interested public.
