Julia Fischer started as a PhD student for Professor Manuel Oechslin’s chair for International Economics in September 2022. Her research interests are within the field of Development Economics, Political Economy and International Economics with a special interest in the interactions of conflicts, foreign aid and FDI.
Next to her BSc in Economics at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien including a semester at the University of British Columbia, she completed a BA in Political Sciences from Universität Wien. After that, she proceeded with the Panthéon-Sorbonne MSc. in Economics and a research Master’s in Development Economics at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. During her Bachelor’s she worked as a research assistant for Dr. Birgit Meyer at WU Wien and gained professional experience as an intern at Allianz Elementar Versicherungs-AG and at the economic department of the Austrian embassy in Ljubljana.
