SSPH+ inter-university collaboration Workshop, January 2019 in Lausanne
The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, University of Lausanne, and the Department of Health Sciences and Health Policy, University of Lucerne, are jointly organising a workshop addressing how behavioural economics can help improve population health and health care delivery.
The universities are organising the workshop to expose SSPH+ researchers and Swiss-based policymakers to recent academic and policy advances in behavioural economics, to generate and discuss ideas for designing behaviourally informed interventions and “medical nudges” in the Swiss health system, and to discuss the legal and ethical challenges of implementing such interventions.
How can behavioural economics help improve population health and health care delivery?

The workshop will combine keynote talks by international academic and policy experts in behavioural economics, opportunities to showcase ongoing research in the area, and group discussions to generate research ideas.
Day 1, Jan. 24th (full day):
- Keynote talks by Prof. Ivo Vlaev (University of Warwick), Dr. Tiina Likki (The Behavioural Insights Team), Prof. Scott Halpern (University of Pennsylvania)
- Showcase of on-going research in Switzerland
Day 2, Jan. 25th (morning):
- “Innovation challenge”: group presentations of innovative research ideas and discussion with experts in medicine, public health, law, ethics and economics.
