Workshop Digital Health & Rare Neuromuscular Diseases
The rapid evolution of digital tools and big data analytics has opened new frontiers in public health research and patient care. This workshop explores the intersection of digital health and rare neuromuscular diseases (NMDs), such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

Experts from academia, healthcare, and technology will discuss patient and provider perspectives, the role of chatbots in managing rare diseases, and the latest research on AI applications in rare disease care. The event will also feature interactive sessions to identify potential and challenges of digital tools in NMDs.
Main goals
- Concrete development of a chatbot to support patients and families with rare neuromuscular diseases (NMD) from the perspective of healthcare professionals.
- Incorporation of the perspectives of affected individuals and families in the design and use of the chatbot.
- Research-based evaluation of the chatbot’s effectiveness and acceptance in practice.
- Identification of challenges and opportunities for integrating digital health solutions into Switzerland’s decentralized healthcare system.
