Messages from the University Management

Sunday opening times for students during the exam revision period

The library will have special opening times: Sunday, 15th/22nd December and 5th/12th/19th January – from 9am to 5pm. University of Lucerne and PH students can gain access via the night entrance, and with a valid CampusCard. More Info (in German, pdf)


 

Workstations for students during the exam revision period

Looking for a quiet space to read and study? From the 21st December 2019 to the 25th January the following rooms will be reserved for students on the basement floor of the Uni/PH-building: Hörsaal 11, Hörsaal 12, Hörsaal 13 (and Hörsaal 14 until 11th January). The Tutorial is available for group work.
Library (1st floor): A total of 670 individual workstations are available. The Seat Navigator will inform you about the availability of seats.


 

Re-opening ZHB library 'Sempacherstrasse' with 140 workstations

The library at the Sempacherstrasse will be open again from Wednesday 11th December. Call by and make use of the 140 workstations, as well as the group-work rooms, which can be reserved.


 

Language courses for students in spring semester 2020

Language courses for students will also be offered during the spring semester 2020: "Deutsch für Fremdsprachige B2/C1", "Speaking and writing B2/C1", "Italienisch A1.2" and "Français B1" (new). Registration deadline is the 19th February 2020.

Confirmation of Enrolment and Tution fees

Confirmation of Enrolment: Students can now also download a confirmation of enrolment from the UniPortal for previous semesters (e.g for the spring semester 2019).

Tution fee: The bill for the spring semester will be sent by email in mid-January 2020.


 

Career Services

From the 10th-14th February 2020 a Career Services Winter School will take place, the winter school will include a series of intensive workshops for students with professionals. Details of the planned topics and information on how to register will be communicated in the Career Services Newsletter. www.unilu.ch/careerservices


 
 
Mobility – International

Discovery semester for refugees needs mentors

The University of Lucerne will again offer a discovery semester for refugees during the academic year 2020/21. Participants can visit up to four lectures per week as audit students. We are looking for motivated and engaged students for the duration of the programme (two semesters), who would be willing to support these participants as buddies, arrange small events and excursions, and potentially be available for tandem language learning. University Magazine 'cogito': 'anders'

The current edition of the university magazine 'cogito' focuses on the topic of 'anders' – as viewed from different scientific perspectives. 'Cogito' can be found in the dispensers within the university building and is also available online: www.unilu.ch/magazin


 

University choir performance in the KKL

Together with the City Light Symphony Orchestra, the Unichor will perform in the KKL in December: on 20th December with 'The Sound of Christmas'; on 22nd December to the film 'Home Alone'. More Info (in German)


 

Summer holiday programme 2020 for the children of students

The Office of Equal Opportunity will once again organise a supervised holiday programme for kindergarten- and school aged children of the students and staff of the University of Lucerne. More information on the programme and registration will follow mid/end February.


 

Walkway in front of the post office

The post office management kindly asks you to refrain from walking across the parking area in front of the post office 'Luzern 2 Universität'. The danger of being hit by vehicles reversing out of their parking spaces is even greater, when it is dark and when it is raining.
In the interest of your own safety, we therefore ask you to either use the pavement along 'Frohburgstrasse' or the pathway alongside the university building.


 
 
Campus offers

HSCL: Winter Sport offerings

Highlights are the cross-country skiing camp in Pontresina (14th-17th January), the Freeride camp in Davos-Klosters (4th-6th February) and the snow sports camp in Davos (7th-9th February). Training for cross-country skiing take place from 6pm to 9pm on the Eigenthal ski trails (starting from the 5th December, as long as there is enough snow).

Prevention of Sexual Harassment: confidants

The three Lucerne universities offer a joint service for persons affected by sexual harassment. Any form of sexual harassment at a place of work or study is unacceptable and will result in appropriate measures and sanctions. Anyone affected can expect to receive quick and competent support from one of the four designated persons of trust.

The Psychological Counselling Center will move

The Psychological Counselling Centre Campus Lucerne (PBLU) will move and remains closed from 23rd December until 14th January. Appointments can be made again from the 6th January 2020. News from the ZHB Lucerne library

A navigation system that saves time

Anyone searching for a place to work in the ZHB library will no longer have to search for long. The Seat Navigator System will be up and running from the 11th December and will display all the free places in the Uni/PH-building, Sempacherstrasse and the Hochschule Luzern – Wirtschaft. The current occupancy level and a display showing the free places (in green), the occupied places (in red) and the places that are temporarily free for a short break (yellow) can be viewed via a campus plan and room guidance system. Semester Info in German or English

Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English.
German version

If necessary, you can change your language within UniPortal (German or English). The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.
