Economics of Disability

The Economics of Disability research group investigates the economic dimensions of disability, with a strong emphasis on the societal and individual benefits of optimizing human functioning. Situated at the intersection of disability studies and economics, our work focuses on key issues such as healthcare access, labor market participation, income inequality, and the performance of social protection systems.

Through quantitative research, we identify and analyze barriers to employment and healthcare, evaluate the impact and efficiency of disability-related policies, and estimate the economic costs associated with exclusion. Our projects are carried out closely with leading academic institutions and research centers in Switzerland and internationally.

Bringing together expertise from economics, public policy, statistics, and health sciences, our interdisciplinary approach aims to develop evidence-based solutions that enhance well-being and promote the economic inclusion of people with disabilities.
