Up until the Easter break, the courses will be held digitally, and in March it will become clear how things can continue after that. You probably feel the same as I do, and have learnt to appreciate the value of face-to-face encounters anew.

Messages from the University Management

News from the Studiladen

The Studiladen organises and prints the documents for the spring semester 2021 and guarantees delivery to your home. Orders can be placed via the online shop: simply select your degree programme and semester. The documents will be delivered to your home free of charge.

Master’s Information Evening and Master’s Week

The master’s information evenings for each of the four faculties and the department will take place on Tuesday, 23th March 2021. Furthermore, anyone interested in the master’s programmes offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences can also take part in Master’s Week, which runs from the 22nd to 26th March. During Master’s Week students can attend any of the regular master’s lectures offered by the faculty, gain information on any of the master’s programmes offered, and receive individual support and advice. The same applies to the Department of Health Sciences and Medicine. More information


 

Institutional accreditation

The University of Lucerne’s process of institutional accreditation has passed another milestone. On Monday, 11th January 2021, the virtual pre-visit took place in preparation for the on-site visit on 9th to 11th March 2021.

Student Administration Office Information

Invoice semester fee

Please remember to pay your semester fees by 19th March 2021 at the latest in order to keep your 'enrolled' status. On 14th January 2021, the bills were sent by e-mail to your stud.unilu.ch address or directly to the specified e-banking account. After payment, the enrolment confirmation can be downloaded from the UniPortal.


 
 
Mobility – International

Application deadlines for student exchange

If you are interested in taking part in an exchange, please take a look at the website of the International Relations Office (IRO) and contact the mobility coordinator within your home faculty in good time.

Language courses

The following courses will be continued in the spring semester: Speaking and writing B2/C1, Italian A1.2 and French B1. For students whose mother tongue is not German, we offer the following courses: German A1, German B1 and German B2/C1. All language courses take place via Zoom. Online registrations are possible until 25th February.

International students

From the autumn semester 2021, the International Relations Office IRO will be the official support office for all international students at the University of Lucerne. All regularly enrolled international students will now have the opportunity to take advantage of the existing services (e.g. Orientation Week at the beginning of the semester, German courses, events). All international students who have been studying at the University of Lucerne for one or more semesters are cordially invited to contact the IRO with any questions or concerns they may have: mobilityremove-this.@remove-this.unilu.ch


 
 
Campus offers

Digital sports programme

The HSCL has set up a digital sports programme. You can take part in many training sessions led by HSCL training instructors: Climbing, Pilates, Zumba etc. and find sample lessons and video tutorials on the HSCL YouTube-Kanal.

Psychological Counselling Center Campus Lucerne

The Psychological Counselling Center Campus Lucerne (PBLU) offers free psychological counselling sessions for students. The content of the counselling sessions does not have to be related to your studies.  Due to the current situation, both online talks and personal talks can be arranged at any time via inforemove-this.@remove-this.pblu.ch More info: www.pblu.ch.
To help you cope with stress, we are offering an online workshop on 8 March on the topic of 'mindfulness'.


 

Prevention of Sexual Harassment: confidants

The three Lucerne universities offer a joint service for persons affected by sexual harassment. Any form of sexual harassment at a place of work or study is unacceptable and will result in appropriate measures and sanctions. Anyone affected can expect to receive quick and competent support from one of the four designated persons of trust. More information


 

horizonte – Chaplaincy for students

It is a matter close to the heart of the university chaplaincy team to offer personal encounters again after the Easter break. For the spring semester, a lot is therefore already planned. News from the ZHB Lucerne library

Swisscovery RZS: Uni/PH-View, courses and consulting services

The multi-layered architecture of the new library system, namely swisscovery RZS (Central Switzerland) and swisscovery (nationwide) allows for uncomplicated searches and makes it easy to switch between nationwide and local holdings. Members of the University of Lucerne can easily access the licensed electronic resources with their own view – easy remote access to the licensed e-media and downloads.

Stream movies for free

Students can watch arthouse films, documentaries and series at home for free via the streaming service filmfriend. Just enter your library login and off you go!
Filmfriend could not yet be linked to the Switch edu-ID. Therefore, log in with your previous library login (user number/password).

Summer Academies Swiss Study Foundation

The Summer Academies of the Swiss Study Foundation offer students the opportunity to explore hot topics beyond their own studies and to place them in a broader, interdisciplinary context. The participation fee for an academy is CHF 200.  More Info


 

myAbility Talent Programme

The Swiss myAbility Talent® Programme in Zurich takes place between February and July and connects students and graduates with disabilities or chronic illnesses with top Swiss companies. Applications can be submitted until 28th February.


 

Uni-Magazin: new articles on an ongoing basis

The Uni-Magazin is available in the library of the Uni/PH building and can also be subscribed to free of charge. New articles are published on an ongoing basis www.unilu.ch/magazin.


 

Visiting professor and master's seminar at the IJCF

Rabbi Prof. Dr. Elisa Klapheck is visiting professor at the Institute for Jewish-Christian Research IJCF in the spring semester. Her lecture is dedicated to emancipated women from Jewish religious and cultural history. More info

In the spring semester there will be a master's seminar with a literary workshop with the renowned translator Anne Birkenhauer. More info

External conferencies and surveys

PCOS study: female participants wanted

As part of a doctoral thesis in medical school, Julia Estermann from the University of Bern is looking at how well women with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) are cared for by their gynaecologists. PCOS is the most common hormonal disorder in women of sexual age. The aim is to improve the care of PCOS patients. Survey link (in German): https://is.gd/pcos_study

Semester Info in German or English

Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English.
German version

If necessary, you can change your language within UniPortal (German or English). The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.
