University of Lucerne - Faculty of Economics and Management
Faculty of Economics and Management – 14 January 2021
GREETING FROM THE DEAN

Dear Students

The start of the spring semester is coming closer, digital teaching formats and communication via virtual channels will also accompany us this semester. You certainly have some questions with regard to your studies at the Faculty of Economics and Management (WF). The first section of this message is specifically aimed at new students. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and I look forward to seeing you soon in our courses.

This issue also contains important information for students in the higher semesters. Please read them carefully.

Despite the persisting challenges, I am convinced that we will also master this semester well thanks to our combined efforts. At the same time, I hope that in the foreseeable future university life can once again take place on site and that the "personal university" with all its facets can come to its fullest. Our good wishes to you all for an excellent start to the new semester!

Warm regards
Prof. Dr. Christoph A. Schaltegger
Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management

COURSES

Coronavirus: Online teaching until 2 April

Courses start on Monday 22 Feburary 2021. As corona-related restrictions are still to be expected at the start of the semester, courses will be held in a digital format only until the Easter break beginning on 2 April.

If the epidemiological situation permits, lectures in the second half of the semester (i.e. from 12 April) will be offered in a hybrid mode. This decision is going to be communicated in March. The Corona information on the University of Lucerne's website as well as the University's protection concept will be continuously updated.

Students currently only have access to the library in the university building.

Registering for courses via OLAT

Before attending your chosen courses, you must register via the e-learning platform OLAT. Only students who have registered for the courses will receive information from lecturers by e-mail and access to course materials.

It is within the responsibility of the students to check whether courses are eligible for crediting to study programmes. Use the ‟course of study” search function in the Course Catalogue to see which courses are eligible for credit. If a course is not eligible, students may not complete any course work or earn any ECTS points in the study programme. In case of questions, please contact our academic student advisors.

For tutorial groups, a separate OLAT registration is required. Places per group are limited and will be assigned on a “first come, first served” basis.

OLAT registration is open from 8 February to 5 March 2021. Exceptions are communicated in the course catalogue. Please use exclusively your @stud.unilu.ch mail address for registration. Guide to Registering for Courses via OLAT

KSF & TF courses: Registration via UniPortal at start of the semester

If you, as a student of Economics & Management plan to attend courses offered by other faculties as an optional compulsory or optional subject, please make sure you know their registration requirements! For courses offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (KSF), please note that the OLAT registration and the UniPortal registration (!) both begin two weeks before the start of the semester and end on Friday of the second week of the semester. Further information

The optional compulsory course Business Ethics of Prof. Dr. Peter G. Kirchschläger is offered by the Faculty of Theology (TF). Thus, the registration conditions of the Faculty of Theology apply. At the TF there is a compulsory registration via UniPortal at the beginning of the semester (period: 15.02. – 05.03.2021). Registration for OLAT will be done for you based on the UniPortal registration (by the persons in charge of the TF). Lectures with oral or written examinations require a second UniPortal registration towards the end of the semester.
