Messages from the University Executive Board

'Open Door' at Rector’s Office

Once per semester, the rector will open his door at a specified time. The next opportunity will be Tuesday, 1st June from 9-11am. The rector will be available via zoom for questions, and welcomes your concerns, wishes and suggestions. Please register via e-mail to rektoratremove-this.@remove-this.unilu.ch.


 

Measures for more diversity

With the 'Diversity Strategy', the University of Lucerne further emphasises its commitment to diversity and reaffirms the goal of improving equal opportunities. The university executive board has now initiated the first implementation measures. More Info (in German)


 

Winter Universiade comes to visit: online teaching in December

From 11th to 21st of December 2021, the 30th Winter Universiade will be hosted in Lucerne. The university and the PH will provide the venue for this multisport event in our Frohburgstrasse building for the entire month of December. Therefore, no courses, examinations or HSCL training sessions can be held in the Uni/PH building during this period. Students are invited to participate as participants in the scientific congress or as volunteer helpers.

Building closed between 1st and 15th August

From 1st to 15th August 2021, the Uni/PH-building will be closed in order to allow the annual inspection and maintenance work to be carried out. The building can only be accessed by university staff via the night entrance point.

Application deadlines for student exchange

In these challenging times, it is more important than ever that we do not lose touch with the international community and that we maintain our strong ties with our partner universities. A language centre for our university? Survey

One of the recommendations in the university’s recently published diversity strategy is to review the need for additional language courses and the option of establishing a language centre. To help us ascertain the interest for more languages and language levels at the university, we would appreciate 5 minutes of your time in completing the language centre questionnaire.

Campus offers

Sentimatt gym room, summer sports program and HSCL annual report

The weight and fitness room, which opened in summer 2020, is available again for training. More Info
The HSCL starts on Monday, June 7th with the summer training. Exact data and information on the offers on the  HSCL-Website.

Psychological Advisory Service Campus Lucerne

Psychological counselling appointments for students, doctoral students and staff can be arranged at any time via www.pblu.ch or inforemove-this.@remove-this.pblu.ch. You can choose between a personal counselling session on site or online counselling. The centre is also available during the semester break (July-September).


 

Prevention of Sexual Harassment: confidants

The three Lucerne universities offer a joint service for persons affected by sexual harassment. Any form of sexual harassment at a place of work or study is unacceptable and will result in appropriate measures and sanctions. Anyone affected can expect to receive quick and competent support from one of the four designated persons of trust. More information


 

horizonte – Chaplaincy for students

Our new website with an overview of the events and talks is now online: www.horizonte-luzern.ch.

The Eco Summer Camp will take place from 22nd to 28th August. The camp provides an opportunity to meet many interesting personalities and to put sustainability into practice both theoretically and practically.


 
 
News from the ZHB Lucerne library

Sunday opening times for students during exam preparation

The library will have special opening times: 30th May and the 3rd/6th/13th and 20th June 2021 – from 9am to 5pm.
University of Lucerne and PH students can gain access via the night entrance, and with a valid CampusCard.

Library services during the summer break

During the weeks which the ZHB library is closed, from 1st to 15th August 2021, media from the Frohburgstrasse location can be ordered to other locations. The library at the Sempacherstrasse location will be open during these weeks, and the Educational Media Centre will reopen from 9th August after its summer break.


 
 
Student Life

Invitation to the Lucerne City Run

The Lucerne City Run will take place in late summer this year: on Sunday, 12 September 2021. Once again, a team from the University of Lucerne will be taking part. All students are cordially invited to run with us. Three distances are available: 1.51 km, 3.4 km and 4.65 km. Participation is free of charge. Winter Universiade 2021 is looking for 3800 volunteers

From 11th to 21st December 2021, the Winter Universiade will take place in Central Switzerland and Graubünden, the largest multisport event for students in winter. Around 1600 students who combine their top sports careers with a degree will take part. The Organising Committee is looking for 3800 volunteers. As a volunteer, you take a look behind the scenes at a major event, broaden your horizons, acquire specialist knowledge and make contacts with guests from all over the world. www.winteruniversiade2021.ch


 
 
External conferences and surveys

GUESSS survey on students' career choices

The GUESSS project investigates the career intentions and plans of students in more than 50 countries and at more than 3000 universities (of which more than 50 are in Switzerland). For this, we rely on your support. All students who complete the online questionnaire will be entered into a draw for 5 cash prizes worth CHF 100 each. Filling out the questionnaire takes about 10-15 minutes. Link to the survey

Semester Info in German or English

Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English.
German version

If necessary, you can change your language within UniPortal (German or English). The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.
