News für den akademischen Mittelbau – 26. Mai 2026

Dear MOL Members,

The semester is drawing to a close. Between final meetings, deadlines, grading, project wrap-ups, exams, and the quiet hope for a few calmer summer days, we would like to bring you up to date one last time before the summer break. In this newsletter, you will find:

  • a review of the MOL General Assembly 2026, including the most important decisions, amendments to the bylaws and elections, as well as an introduction to the new MOL Board members
  • a reminder of our Call for Ideas: If you have ideas for interdisciplinary projects, events, exchange formats or collaborations, please feel free to get in touch with us
  • an invitation to join the MOL mailing list or Teams channel, so that you can stay informed and get involved easily
  • a Call for Participation for the Campus Lucerne for Refugees programme, which is currently looking for speakers and language mentors

Before the corridors slowly empty, calendars start to breathe a little, and the coffee machines perhaps get a slightly less dramatic workout, we wish you a good final stretch of the semester — and, in between, a little summer in your mind.

Warm regards,
Your MOL Board

Andrea Aegerter (faculty-independent), Lea Keller (RF and treasurer), Alexander Ort (GMF), Alejandra Rodriguez (WF), Joshua Schibli (TF), Flavia Tinner (VPF)

A WARM WELCOME TO THE MOL BOARD

We are pleased to welcome Laura Hoffman and Severin Schnurrenberger as two new members of the MOL Board. Both bring different disciplinary perspectives, experience from the academic mid-level faculty, and a strong motivation to contribute to good working conditions, meaningful exchange, and opportunities for participation at our university. We are very much looking forward to working with them and are pleased to briefly introduce them here.

My name is Laura Hoffman, and I have been working at the University of Lucerne since 2022. I first worked as a student assistant at the Center for Religion, Economy and Politics (ZRWP), and later as a research assistant in the qualitative part of the SNSF project “Radicals and Preachers. Social Networks and Identity Formation as Pull Factors of Jihadist Radicalisation in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland”. I have also recently taken on the role of student advisor at the Department for the Study of Religions.

In addition, I am a PhD candidate (since September 2024). My doctoral project, “Worldviews and Future Visions,” explores qualitatively how young adults in Switzerland make sense of the world, orient themselves in (non-)religious and worldview-related terms, and imagine society’s future.

As a member of the MOL board, I would like to help make mid-level academic staff concerns more visible and strengthen exchange across faculties. I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

My name is Severin Schnurrenberger. Since January 2025 I work as senior research fellow (Oberassistent) at the professorship for Canon Law and Law and Religion at the Faculty of Theology. I am, however, part of the Mittelbau since 2022, when I entered as a PhD-Student. My research entangles mainly the foundations of law: philosophy, history and sociology of law. I am looking forward to contribute to the further development at our University
