The University of Lucerne is the youngest university in Switzerland. Founded in 2000, it comprises the four faculties of Theology, Cultural and Social Sciences, Law, Economics and the Department of Health Sciences and Medicine and has around 3'000 students. As of January 1, 2022 or by agreement, we are looking for a

PhD student in health sciences (100%)

The position of a PhD student is open in the group of Associate Prof. (CAN) Dr. med. Katrin Scheinemann at the Kantonsspital Aarau and Prof. Dr. Gisela Michel.
The "LENTIL – a mixed method study to define quaLity critEria iN pediaTrIc oncoLogy for Switzerland" project aims to define objective quality criteria in pediatric oncology and evaluate pediatric oncology centers in Switzerland, and to reflect the already existing high standard of care in the university and cantonal hospitals nationally and internationally. In addition, quality criteria are important to develop objective requirements for pediatric oncology centers, to establish experts for quality management at each center, and to enhance care and transparency between centers.


  • Managing the ongoing project supervised by a postdoc
  • Helping with organization of study, data collection and analyses
  • Write reports and scientific manuscripts
  • Present results at national and international conferences
  • Support teaching in the Master of Science in Health Sciences


  • Master in Medicine, Health Sciences or similar
  • An interest in applied research in the areas of childhood cancer, health services research and public health
  • Interest in qualitative research methods
  • Languages: excellent knowledge of German and English, additional knowledge of French would be an advantage
  • Sound computing skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Structured, independent and accurate way of working
