Department of Health Sciences and Medicine
The University of Lucerne is the youngest university in Switzerland. Founded in 2000, it comprises the four faculties of Theology, Cultural and Social Sciences, Law, Economics and the Department of Health Sciences and Medicine and has around 3'000 students. The Department of Health Sciences and Medicine promotes research and teaching in the areas of health, functioning, rehabilitation and well-being of individuals and society as a whole. We are committed to the close linking of science and practice as well as a broad national and international orientation.
As of March 1, 2023, or by agreement, we are looking for a

PhD student in Health and Social Policy

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake research in the domain of health and social policy (in Switzerland and/or in comparative perspective) and related topics, such as health inequality or health politics.
  • Support of other research projects developed at the Department of Health Sciences and Medicine
  • Support of teaching activities
  • Participate in internal seminars and at international academic conferences

Requirements:

  • Completed Master's degree in Health Science, Health Politics, Health Economics, Political Science, Social Policy, Sociology, Public Health, or similar area
  • Knowledge and interest in health and social policy and related topics
  • Ability to discuss/write/present scientific results in English
  • Highly motivated, reliable, efficient, and able to work independently
  • Trained in statistical methods and/or econometrics
  • Ability to apply statistical software for data management and data analysis
