Esteemed students,

There are 600 men and women who begin their studies at the University of Lucerne this autumn and 1800 who will continue on to a bachelor’s or master’s course. You are one of them! On behalf of the University of Lucerne, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you and wish you a successful and enjoyable semester!
You are certainly wondering how university rankings affect your studies – and you definitely have heard that the Shanghai and Times Higher Education rankings are particularly prestigious.

Messages from University Management

Semester-Info in English

Distribution of the Semester Info is done in either German or English.
German Version

If necessary, you can change your language settings within UniPortal. The language you opt for will then apply to all of the bilingual communication that is sent out by the University of Lucerne.
(Wolfgang Schatz, Academic Director)

Start of lectures on Dies academicus

This year's Dies academicus will take place Thursday, 5th November 2015.
Lectures will therefore start at 1:30pm as opposed to the regular time of 1.15pm.

You will receive an invitation by e-mail to the ceremony which will start at 10am at the KKL.
(Wolfgang Schatz, Academic Director)

Show consideration

More than 4,000 people in one building: the only way that this can work smoothly is if we all show consideration for each other.

The rules can be found in the house regulations, and key security information is available on the website www.unilu.ch/universitaet/verwaltung/facility-management/sicherheit/

I would like to point out one rule in particular: please be considerate towards our wheelchair users and people with walking disabilities!
(Esther Müller, Administrative Director)

Toilets for disabled people and the lift: waiting times

Breaks between lectures are very short – students with a disability rely therefore on the availability of the disabled toilets. Please keep these free.
When a lift is needed between lectures to change floors, the waiting time for disabled students should not be too long. Please use the staircase whenever possible.
Thank you very much!
(Office of Equal Opportunity)
