Lucerne Master Class with Eva Illouz

The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences is very proud to announce that the fifth Lucerne Master Class will take place from September 23rd to 27th with Prof. Dr. Eva Illouz (Hebrew University Jerusalem). The topic is "The Paradoxes of Capitalism and Emotions". Doctoral students from all over the world are invited to apply for participation till May 1st, 2019.

A general public is already warmly invited to attend Prof. Illouz's public lecture on Tuesday, September 24th, starting at 6.15 p.m. Topic and room will be announced in the events calendar at a later point in time.

Fifteen doctoral students will be selected to participate in the week-long Lucerne Master Class with Eva Illouz. They will be offered a unique opportunity to discuss the latest work with this renowned public intellectual whose reputation crosses not only many disciplinary borders, but also borders of many countries. About half of the participants will also be given the chance to present their own work in a presentation to other participants and Eva Illouz (selection will take place based on the relevance of Eva Illouz's work for the individual doctoral research project). But also those not offered a slot for a presentation will be given ample opportunity to discuss relevant points for their own research in sessions discussing Eva Illouz's work and the many social events on the program.

Selected participants will, in return for a participation fee, receive accommodation at Hotel Seeburg, the Lucerne Master Class's venue as well as receive partial reimbursement for travel costs.
