Smriti Sharma is a Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Lucerne. She obtained her B.A (H) and M.A in Sociology from University of Delhi and Ambedkar University Delhi respectively. In 2019, she was awarded with a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Sociology from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India. As part of her MPhil dissertation titled, ‘The Politics of Public-Private Partnership in Healthcare: A Study of Dengue Epidemic in Delhi’, she did an extensive review and a critical analysis of existing literature on public-private partnerships (PPPs) in healthcare in India. She also did fieldwork with public health officials and private diagnostic clinics in Delhi to understand the politics of PPPs within dengue prevention and control. At UNILU, she is currently working on the Ambizione SNSF project ‘Visions of the Social: The Transformation of State Planning in Post-Colonial India’ under the supervision of Prof. Dr Sandra Bärnreuther. Her doctoral project investigates a specific health insurance scheme in India, Ayushman Bharat - examining notions of access, health policy and decision making in India.
