OLAT - digital learning platform for all lectures
Many events use OLAT as a digital platform for all matters of the semester: mainly as a data storage but also as a communication forum or even as an examination platform. The use of OLAT varies from lecturer to lecturer. You will be informed by your lecturers how OLAT is used in their courses.
ZOOM - our digital platform for comunication
If you participate in an event digitally, this is usually done via ZOOM. Your lecturers will provide you with a link that you click at the beginning of the course. Usually it is the same link for a whole semester. Here you can find information on how to use ZOOM sensibly and profitably.

Meeting Owl - for interactive lectures
In hybrid mode, you must be able to attend the course, whether you are present in the room or online via ZOOM. The "owl", which is a 360-degree camera, microphone and loudspeaker, enables hybrid discussion in small groups. It is placed in the middle of the room and transmits the person speaking to ZOOM. Important when using the owl is an enhanced audio discipline: The speaker meeds to speak loud and clear, while those not speaking need to keep as quiet as possible, including rocking chairs, typing on a laptop or talking with their neighbours. On ZOOM, if you are not talking, please mute your microphone.
SWITCHtube - Streaming platform for video podcasts
Many courses use SWITCHtube and either put a specially produced video online before the course or record the live course and make it available afterwards. The video files can be streamed via a link. It is not possible to download them, and it is prohibited to pass them on to third parties.
Hybrid teaching sometimes restricts the students' personal acquaintance. Therefore, if possible, try to establish digital contact with fellow students, assistants and lecturers.

Tips
- Search for social media groups (via Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram) and the student councils (SOL, FAJULU, KuSO, IUCIM, WiLu, FT, DGM) so that you can get to know some students of your department at the beginning of the semester. In addition, you will find a lot of useful information in such groups, which is especially important for first-year students, such as roommate requests, carpooling opportunities, as well as tips on social and student life (university sports, cultural events, etc.)
- Form virtual learning groups.
- Build in regular joint (zoom) coffee breaks.
