On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, a conference on the use of generative AI in teaching will take place. The conference, jointly organized by the Lucerne University of Teacher Education, the University of Lucerne and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, is aimed at all teachers and teaching staff at the three educational institutions. The intention is to share experiences on the use of generative AI in teaching, to learn from each other, and to jointly discuss questions raised by employing generative AI in teaching. The program will be published in mid-January 2024. You can already register today. Please note that the conference will be in German.

Do you already have teaching experience with AI and would like to share this with other lecturers on the Lucerne campus at the conference? We are still looking for contributions from the University of Lucerne for Track 1: Teaching examples. Present your example of how you have used generative AI in your teaching to your colleagues in 15 minutes, and explain the questions that arose during planning and implementation. Send us a brief description of your example with a title and abstract of no more than 100 words to zentrum.lehre@unilu.ch .

From February 1 to July 31, 2024, I, Bernhard Lange, will be on sabbatical. My colleague Ricarda Werner will take over in addition to teaching evaluation. She will continue to explore the impact of the development of artificial intelligence on academic teaching and keep you up to date through various formats. Due to the reduced workload during my absence, however, didactic consulting will be paused. Please register for the above-mentioned events for further training in higher education didactics.
