CV
Since 01.07.2021 I am doing research on children's rights at the Institute of Social Ethics (ISE) of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Lucerne.
I have also been teaching at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Konstanz since October 2021. Previously, I was the Mary Somerville Junior Research Fellow in Philosophy at Somerville College, University of Oxford from October 2018 to September 2021. Prior to my work in Oxford, I was a teaching fellow (Research Fellow) in philosophy at the University of Tübingen (2016-2017) and at the University of Hamburg (2017-2018).
Currently, I am working on my habilitation project "Children's Rights and Child Protection in Competitive Sports". The aim of the project is to investigate the philosophical foundations of children's right to a non-violent upbringing.
In June 2018, I completed my PhD in philosophy under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jonathan Beere (Humboldt University of Berlin), Prof. Dr. Marko Malink (New York University), and Prof. Dr. Ursula Coope (University of Oxford) at Humboldt University of Berlin.
My research interests are in practical philosophy (especially political philosophy, moral psychology, and children’s rights) and ancient philosophy (especially Plato's and Aristotle's metaphysics and ethics). I also have research interests in contemporary metaphysics. My teaching is mainly in practical philosophy and ancient philosophy.
I would like to make philosophy accessible to a wider audience and here especially to children. In this context, I gave a lecture on justice at the University of Hamburg as part of the annual Children's University. This lecture was attended by 1200 children between the ages of 8 and 12. I have given introductions to political philosophy for young adults at the Goethe Institute Washington, Somerville College at the University of Oxford, and the Goethe Institute in Boston. I have also given a digital lecture series for children and young adults on topics in political philosophy (Justifying Punishment, Human Enhancement, and Designer Babies) as part of the Goethe Institute USA's Green Academy. My lectures for children on the topic of justice were reviewed in the children's magazine Dein Spiegel as well as on NDR.
