Philipp Renninger, Ref. iur., has studied law at the University of Freiburg (Germany), specializing in public, European, and International law. He graduated in 2017 with the first German state examination (master’s equivalent). During his studies, he spent one year at Nanjing University (PR China), where he both read Chinese language and Chinese law.

Since 2017, Philipp Renninger is an academic assistant of Prof. Dr. Sebastian Heselhaus at the University of Lucerne. He is reading for a PhD at Lucerne and Freiburg (cotutelle de thèse) on Chinese and German administrative and constitutional law and the methodology of comparative law. Moreover, he has published on Chinese and German legal philosophy as well as on the law of Spain, where he completed a one-year European Voluntary Service.

Philipp Renninger has been granted various scholarships i.a. by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI). Recently, he has been awarded the young talent’s prize 2019 of the German National Committee of Comparative Law (GfR).
