Born 1964, from Wängi (Thurgau canton, Switzerland), two daughters, married

Professional and academic career: Matura type B 1983 (Kreuzlingen); 1984–1989 studies in Law at the University of Bern (lic. iur.); 1990–1995 Assistant at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology (University of Berne, Prof. Guido Jenny); 1995 doctorate in Law (Dr. iur.) with a thesis on the “The limits of criminal law asset protection in illegal and unethical business” (awarded the Professor Walther Hug Prize in 1996); 1995­–1997 internship at the Seftigen judicial office and in a Berne law firm; 1997 Berne bar examination; 1997–1998 Assistant at the Institute of International Private and Procedural Law at the University of Berne (Prof. Gerhard Walter), also Senior Assistant at the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology (1997–2001, Prof. Guido Jenny); 2000 period of research at the Humboldt University of Berlin (Prof. D. Krauss); 2001 appointed Assistant Professor for Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at the University of Lucerne; 2005 postdoctoral qualification with an investigation of "Aggressive rights of the injured party in criminal proceedings", appointed Professor of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and International Criminal Law at the University of Lucerne; Jul–Dec 2008 Visiting Professor at the Law School of the University of California/Berkeley; 2005–2010 accreditation delegate; 2006–2010 member of the research committee; August 2011–July 2015 Dean of the School of Law at the University of Lucerne.
