Lea Portmann is a postdoctoral researcher in the project "The Mobility of Migration Policies," which is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation as part of the nccr - on the move. She completed her dissertation on electoral discrimination against candidates with a migration background at the University of Lucerne in March 2020. From 2015 to 2018, she was a research fellow in the SNSF Ambizione project "Racist Voters and Minority Candidates" of Prof. Nenad Stojanović and in 2018 she was a visiting researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles. Before that, Lea Portmann graduated in 2015 with a Master's degree in Political Science and in 2012 a Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Bern. She is interested in whether and why discrimination occurs in the political sphere and its impact on the political representation of minorities. More recently, she has broadened her focus to the analysis of migration policies.
