Manuel Menrath obtained his matura leaving certificate Type B (Latin) at Kantonsschule Reussbühl in 1995. From 1998 to 2006 he worked as secondary school teacher in Beromünster. Afterwards, he had a mandate as a cultural and event manager for „Burg Zug“, Museum of Cultural History of the City and Canton of Zug for the years 2007 and 2008. He studied History, Philosophy and Religion at the University of Lucerne. In 2008 he completed his studies with the licentiate dissertation "Des Spahis à Triengen - Internierung afrikanischer Soldaten im Jahr 1940" (Des Spahis à Triengen - The Internment of African Soldiers in 1940). 

In 2014 he obtained his PhD with a study on "Martin Marty O.S.B. (1834–1896) - Vom Einsiedler Mönch zum Indianermissionar und Bischof in Amerika" [From Monk of Einsiedeln in Switzerland to Indian Missionary and American Bishop].
