Marketing investment analysis concept


The Lucerne Summer School in Health Econometrics aims to bring together PhD students and senior lecturers in applied health economics and econometrics to discuss recent developments in the field and exchange ideas in an informal setting. Students have the opportunity to present their work, receive feedback to advance their research, and network with peers.

Target group

Graduate students with an advanced draft of a research paper from all areas of health economics, with a focus on applied quantitative work, are welcome to apply. A maximum of 10-15 students will be selected for participation, and each student is expected to present his or her work and discuss the paper of another student.


Students who participate in the entire summer school and who present a research paper will receive a certification (1 ECTS without homework, 3 ECTS with homework assignment).

The summer school is offered within the PhD program in Health Sciences.

The 2020 Summer School will take place from June 8-10. Prof. Catherine Maclean (Temple), Prof. Nicolas Ziebarth (Cornell) and Prof. Stefan Boes (Lucerne) will lecture on topics related to health and social insurance, health and the labor market, and methods for causal inference.

A limited number of students will be selected to present their papers.

Applications to the summer school can submitted via the application form (deadline: April 1, 2020).

Registration fees

Accepted students have to register for the summer school. The registration fee is CHF 500 and includes a summer school package (slides, selected readings, writing utensils, etc.), admission to all lectures, a lunch bag and refreshments every day, and dinner/social event on days 1 and 2.
