Data management and analysis is preeminent in today's research. Large clinical information systems are critical for collection of standardized datasets as prerequisite for health services research. Epic is one of these systems that was introduced in several of Boston's teaching hospitals in 2014 as well as at the Luzerner Kantonsspital in 2019. In this lecture we provide a short introduction to the Epic implementation in Lucerne followed by the main part of the lecture on its implementation at Boston's Brigham and Women's hospital in conjunction with the research platform RPDR (Research Patient Data Registry), it's current use and future in research projects.
