Master’s Program

The Master of Laws program requires completion of 90 ECTS Credit Points (CP) and an expected period of study of 3 semesters (1 1/2 years).

The Master of Law (MLaw) is condition for a demanding legal employment or advanced legal studies, particularly a licence to practise as a lawyer or a doctorate’s degree.

Students are free to compile their Master’s program out of over 100 courses (see Master’s program). Thanks to the free choice of courses and the broad course program, students may structure their Master’s program with regard to their intended career goals. They may also follow the faculty’s recommendations for specialised curricula (see Masterprofile).

Non-legal optional courses, e.g. out of the course offerings of the Faculty of Theology or the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, encourage interdisciplinary as well as cross-curricular thinking.
