Janet Burch MA (née 1983) graduated in Sociology at the University of Lucerne with a minor in law (Lucerne) and Economic Geography (Zurich). She finished her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor’s thesis about the “Distinction of centre / periphery using the example of the Inca Empire”.
She took the study program “Global Society and Global Governance” and was a scientific undergraduate assistant of Prof. Dr. Cornelia Bohn. Her Master’s thesis “Forms of economic practices in Lima, Peru: Discourse of corruption and informality” was awarded with the prize of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Lucerne. The aforementioned thesis is the starting point of the ongoing Ph.D. project. Since august 2009 she is an assistant of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Stichweh. Furthermore, she works as a review editor of the journal “Soziale Systeme”.
