The Department of History at the University of Lucerne
History is a subject that provides us with frames of reference. It helps to give meaning to society and allows us to find our place within it. This is a process that relates to the past, but which still continues and develops anew in the present.
Completing a degree in history prepares students for careers in education and media (schools, libraries, archives, publishing and communication). It also provides the qualification required for high entry-level positions in international organisations, companies and public administration.
The Department of History at the University of Lucerne was established on 1 August 1989 and is aligned to the creative developments in international research. It provides a high level of supervision through work in small groups, and clearly-arranged courses.
