Teaching
Studying history in Lucerne includes general history and Swiss history of the Middle Ages, early modern and contemporary periods. It provides issue-based teaching of history and encourages students to think in terms of historical connections. It teaches students skills in researching historical texts and pictorial documentation, to analyse these sources with a critical eye, review them and disseminate the findings orally and in written form.
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree is normally completed after six semesters, the Master of Arts (MA) after an additional four semesters. These guidelines refer to full-time study. If students have a job in their spare time, the study period might increase accordingly. To complete a BA, students must have study achievements totalling 180 Credit Points (CP). A further 120 CP are required to complete the MA.
