Registration and Enrollment at the University of Lucerne

Academic Year

The fall semester begins in calendar week 38 (mid September) and ends in December. The spring semester is held from week 8 (second half of February) until week 22 (end of May). The exact semester dates are listed here.

Mobility in Switzerland (CH-Unimobil)

Students at a Swiss university have the possibility to study one or two semesters at another Swiss university.
Usually, the recognition of semesters, courses, exams and credit points (ECTS) is guaranteed within Switzerland (see the study and examination regulations of your home university).
The students remain enrolled at their home university and pay their tuition fees there.
No registration or examination fees are due at the University of Lucerne.

Deadline for application:
Fall semester: April 15
Spring semester: November 15

Exchange Students: ERASMUS- and Partnership-Programme

Exchange students of the ERASMUS- and Partnership programme are asked to contact the mobility coordinator of their home university, if they plan to study at the University of Lucerne.

The coordinator will submit all application documents of prospective exchange students to the Mobility Office of the University of Lucerne which, in turn, will then send the confirmation of a study spot to the home university. After that, the exchange student will receive a detailed application form from the University of Lucerne, which has to be returned to the Mobility Office of the University of Lucerne.

Freemovers

In principle, it is possible to apply and register for an exchange semester at the University of Lucerne as a guest student even if not involved in the ERASMUS programme. Guest students are students who are temporarily enrolled at the university and do not intend to take a degree at the University of Lucerne.

Further information about admission requirements can be found with the here. The Admissions Office of the University of Lucerne will make its decision after having received all the required application documents. The University of Lucerne charges a study fee of CHF 715,–.

After being accepted for studying at the University of Lucerne, all students have to register personally at the University’s Admissions Office of the University of Lucerne. Students will be advised in writing of the precise dates for registration. If all required documents are submitted at the time of registration, students will receive their student identity cards as well as the registration confirmation.
