We will update you on recent events and other relevant things concerning the transnational legal studies program at UNILU at the Blog. The Blog is a more flexible tool than the web page, so you can expect to read things faster there.

Also, we invite you to write for the Blog on things that you want to share with your fellow students. Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court

The (tired) 2010 team (courtesy AU Washington College of Law) The (tired) 2010 team (courtesy AU Washington College of Law) A team of the University of Lucerne, coached by our department, has participated in the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court since 2009.

Both 2009 and 2010 yielded notable results:

The Final (courtesy AU Washington College of Law) The Final (courtesy AU Washington College of Law) In 2009, team member Mariela Maidana-Eletti scored 7th in the ranking of English-speaking oralists.

In 2010 the team (Anina Knecht and Ivana Simic) ranked 5th amongst the English-speaking teams, and 42nd in the overall ranking (amongst some 100 law schools).

The Pretoria World Human Rights Law Moot Court

Judges at the 2009 Pretoria Moot, Judge Pillay presiding Judges at the 2009 Pretoria Moot, Judge Pillay presiding The Lucerne team participating in the World Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Pretoria (South Africa) in 2009 won the final round in the Western Europe/North America region against Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) and thus ranked amongst the five top teams of the world.

The Pretoria Moot was established in 2009 in collaboration between the University of Pretoria and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Our team managed to not only be invited as one of only two teams in the region to plead in the final round, but scored an impressive victory.

We are currently completing the written submission for the 2010 competition due in August, and hope to make it into the finals again.
