Vita
Christian Morgner studied sociology at the Friedrich-Schiller University, Jena (GER) and at the University of Essex, Colchester (UK). In 2003, he graduated with a dissertation about the semantic development of trust and distrust. From 2004-2007 Christian Morgner was a PhD-student at the Graduate School ‘Transnational Media Events’ at the Justus-Liebig University, Giessen (GER) his PhD-thesis focused on the development of a theory of world media events. During that time, he visited media archives in the United States and Singapore for several months. Since 2007, he has been working on a project about - art and world society - and thus went on to become an Affiliate Researcher the University of Cambridge in 2008. This ongoing project has already included field work in South-Korea as well as Brazil and will be continued in New York and Yokohama. In 2009, Christian Morgner joined the sociological department of the University of Lucerne (CH). Nonetheless, he is a member of the advisory board of the Korean Art Journal NOON: Journal for Contemporary Art and Visual Culture and is a guest lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute London. In 2010, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Center for Cultural Sociology at Yale University.
