Attorney-at-Law
Demitry commenced undergraduate studies at Toronto´s York University at the age of 16 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), with merit, in political science. He subsequently attended Toronto´s Osgoode Hall Law School where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). He summered for a trial Judge in Pennsylvania (USA) and subsequentlty in the Legal Department of the Ontario Ministry of Labour in Toronto. Upon writing his bar examinations for the Bar of Ontario (Law Society of Upper Canada) and upon successfuly completing his articles of clerkship with a reputable law firm in Toronto he was called to the Ontario Bar as Barrister & Solicitor.
In his articles of clerkship Demitry rotated in the firm´s corporate, real estate and litigation departments and was hired back in the litigation department. He subsequently completed his Licentiate in Law (droit civil) at the University of Ottawa, Droit Civil, magna cum laude, in Ottawa, and his Master of Laws at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, as a Funded Fellow in Toronto.
Demitry has also practiced law with another reputable law firm in Toronto since his call to the Ontario Bar and has practiced law as a sole practitioner. As a general practitioner, Demitry has had carriage of matters broadly including, corporate and commercial matters, investment banking, private and public offerings of securities, real estate transactions, mortgage financing and litigation work in mortgage enforcement.
His Master of Laws thesis titled "Towards a Paradigm Shift to an Inclusionary Application Model of the Canadian Charter and the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights" has also been published.
